F5J is thermal soaring with an electric motor and a measured release height. Switching the motor off low is rewarded.

The discipline

What is F5J?

After at most 30 seconds of motor run the pilot tries to reach ten minutes of flight time and to land precisely. The higher the release, the larger the deduction.

Competition control for F5J

Start order draw, result entry at the line and scoring to FAI rules, usable offline on a phone, tablet or laptop. The manual explains how a contest day runs. The practice competition lets you rehearse it without consequences: 54 invented entrants in six teams, five groups in the duration task, and it disappears by itself after 48 hours.
